2015 All-America Research Team: The Top-Ranked Analysts

J.P. Morgan lays claim to the highest number of first-place positions, with 14, followed by Evercore ISI, with ten.

A total of 15 firms earn at least one first-place position on the 2015 All-America Research Team, Institutional Investor’s exclusive annual ranking of the nation’s leading sell-side equity analysts. J.P. Morgan researchers are deemed the best in nearly a quarter of the survey’s categories — 14 out of 60 — followed by Evercore ISI, with ten sector victories. Among the more surprising developments, Evercore ISI's Ed Hyman — who held the top spot in Economics for a remarkable and record-setting 35 years, from 1980 through 2014 — slips to second place. He is replaced by his former colleague and firm co-founder Nancy Lazar, now of Cornerstone Macro.

This year the Wells Fargo Securities flag makes its first appearance atop a sector — not once, but twice. J. Michael Webber Jr . sails into first place in the newly added Shipping sector, while Michael Blum captains the crew that rises from third place to first for coverage of Master Limited Partnerships.

Two analysts lead more than one lineup. Evercore ISI’s Mark Schoenebaum scores a hat trick, outperforming all others in Biotechnology/Large-Cap, Biotechnology/Mid- & Small-Cap and Pharmaceuticals/Major, while Benjamin Swinburne of Morgan Stanley is considered the best in both Cable & Satellite and Media.
