Team debut: 2005It’s a second straight No. 2 finish on this roster for the Credit Suisse threesome under the direction of São Paulo–based Bruno Savaris — which also earns first place on the Capital Goods lineup. The researchers are “able to provide more in-depth analysis than others,” one asset manager reports. “For instance, when analyzing Brazilian toll roads, they look beyond traffic growth versus gross domestic product growth to the past 14 years of traffic patterns. From that they’re able to draw important conclusions for the next five years.” Specifically, in July 2014 the team downgraded Brazil-based toll-road operator EcoRodovias Infraestrutura e Logística from outperform to neutral, anticipating a slowdown in traffic growth and therefore earnings. They were right, and by the middle of last month, the stock had slumped 51.5 percent, to 7.16 reais, lagging the region’s transportation shares by 35.8 percentage points. Savaris, 31, and his colleagues monitor 14 names in this space from their offices in Mexico City and São Paulo.
