After slipping into a runner-up spot in 2014, Richard Edwards and his London-based trio reclaim third place. The Citi analysts made the right call on Dixons Carphone, a U.K.-based consumer electronics and telecommunications retailer formed by the August 2014 merger between Dixons Retail and Carphone Warehouse Group. In January 2014 they issued by recommendations on both companies’ shares and reiterated their position in an August postmerger report. “The merger of Dixons and Carphone Warehouse creates a business with a market cap of £3.8 billion [$6.4 billion], sales of £10.5 billion and puts Dixons Carphone at the center of all connectivity relationships,” explains Edwards, 48. Investors have so far shared their enthusiasm, pushing Dixons Carphone’s shares up 63.3 percent since the researchers assigned the buy rating, to end last month at €435. Europe’s retailers overall gained 5.9 percent during the same period.
