Total Appearances: 9

Team Debut: 2005 For a fourth year in a row, Citi’s Sarah Deans and her London-based crew of two top the roster. One portfolio manager lauds the accountants for their “deep experience and willingness to dig into issues.” An example of that effort is their coverage of the uncertain corporate tax environment that companies in Europe face. Last year the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development published an action plan to address tax avoidance by multinational companies. The Paris-based international economic organization’s efforts entail “a risk of changes to tax laws affecting international corporate tax planning structures,” says Deans. “We have highlighted the potential risk to companies [that] are currently paying lower-than-expected corporate tax charges.” Much of her group’s work involves identifying those companies and assessing “the risk of higher tax charges in future,” the 41-year-old explains. Asserts another fund manager, “This is an area that receives a lot less coverage on the sell side, and it was good to see Sarah’s opinions on various issues that arose during the year.”
