< The 2014 All-Japan Research Team Masaharu Miyachi Morgan Stanley MUFG Securities Co. First-place appearances: 2

Total appearances: 13

Analyst debut: 2001 Repeating in third place, Morgan Stanley MUFG Securities Co.’s Masaharu Miyachi exhibits “exceptional, balanced judgment,” one fund manager attests. For the fiscal year that began this month, the analyst has a neutral outlook on Japan’s business software companies. “We expect steady recovery will continue,” he reports, “and forecast 4.5 percent industry sales growth. Demand from financial institutions will be strongest among all client sectors.” Moreover, as this year marks a “relatively later stage of recovery cycle,” he adds, “we believe smaller companies will outperform larger companies in the sector.” Reporting on 14 companies in this sector, Miyachi most favors two Tokyo-headquartered small caps that provide information technology services, IT Holdings Corp. and Nihon Unisys.
